This processing technique is used to make containers to hold food or water including lunchboxes, wood containers for cooked rice and flower tubs. They are made of thin plates of Japanese cedar or cypress, and are light and solid so they can easily be carried.
Bending thinned boards
Fixing bent boards with wooden scissors and drying them
Closing the edge with cherry bark and inserting the bottom plate
