Work in the mountain / Transport
This is English site
Loggers removed the branches of cut trees on the spot and cut the wood into pieces of the same length after some time. It was mainly during the winter that plants were carried from the mountain. To facilitate transport, mountain paths and slopes were covered with logs, wooden boards and branches. Cattle and horses were used, or timber was put on sleds for transport with manpower. Sometimes, timber was transported near the riverside for further transport on board the boat.
Force and skill were necessary to carry a plant that weighed nearly one ton, and the task involved a very high risk.
